Have some Western-style fun with the National Day of the American Cowboy at 11am Saturday at Fort Worth's Stockyards Station. This family-friendly event will include live music, Legends of Texas gunfight shows, games, stagecoach rides and more. Admission is free, but some events may have a small fee.
Fairy Tale Fun
See a famous tale come to life with Little Red Riding Hood: The Melodrama, presented by the Dallas Puppet Theater, at 11am Friday and Saturday and 2pm Saturday and Sunday at The Women's Museum in Dallas. You'll see all your favorite characters, including Red, her grandmother and the bad wolf. $7 adults; $6 children ages 2-18.
A Little Night Music
Enjoy great tunes in the great outdoors at the Free Starrise Concert at 8:15pm Friday outside of the Denton Civic Center. Performers with the Childbloom Guitar Program are set to perform. The concert series will continue every Friday through Aug. 7. Bring a blanket or lawn chair and hear talented musicians wow the crowd. (Free)
A Trip to the Museum
Have a fun educational experience at the traveling exhibit Abraham Lincoln: Self-Made in America from 10am-4pm Friday and Saturday and 12-4pm Sunday at the Dallas Heritage Village. You'll see reproduction artifacts from the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, including items from Honest Abe's childhood and election. $5 adults; $4 seniors; $3 children ages 4-12; children younger than 4 free
